Adult ADHD/Autism Right To Choose

Due to the current demand on the NHS Adult ADHD and Autism Service (https://www.blackcountryhealthcare.nhs.uk/our-services/adult-adhd-autism-service) more patients are choosing to seek referrals via the NHS Right to choose pathway instead.
If you are an adult who wishes to be referred for an assessment via the Right to choose pathway, you must first choose your provider. This is a decision you must make yourself, as it is patient choice and you are only provided one assessment via the NHS.

ADHD:
https://adhduk.co.uk/right-to-choose/
ADHD UK – is essentially a comparison website for ADHD assessment services that shows who is accepting referrals and how long the current waiting times are.
ADHD UK also indicates if a service offers ongoing medication titration via the NHS.

Autism:
There is not currently the same type of “comparison” website for Autism assessments. Providers can be found by googling right to choose autism assessment services.
Providers that we have previously used for autism assessments are: Clinical Partners, Psychiatry-UK, Evolve Psychology, Psicon and RTN Diagnostics.

Once you have chosen a provider, please follow the instructions found on the providers website regarding how to initiate a referral. Most providers will ask you to download a “referral request letter” and also to complete a pre-assessment questionnaire.
Once you have completed the questionnaire and downloaded the referral request letter, please bring these to the surgery, where they will be sent to a GP for review and a referral will be generated, if appropriate.
